At the Victory in the Pacific (VP) Day luncheon held at Canterbury League Club in mid-August, Lakemba RSL Sub-Branch President Ann Garland and Secretary Tim McCaw were presented with the Community Recognition Statement by Member for Lakemba Jihad Dib MP.
The Statement congratulates or acknowledges the achievements of people or groups in the community. Ann and Tim were recognised for their time, effort and dedication in ensuring that The Lakemba Club’s annual ANZAC Day Services are a memorable commemoration as well as their tireless dedication to the Sub-Branch.
“We were both honoured to receive this recognition for our efforts in the sub-branch and we cannot thank the Board of Canterbury for their sponsorship and support as well as the management and staff of The Lakemba Club,” said Tim McCaw, Secretary of Lakemba RSL Sub-Branch.
Ann has been President for 21 years and is also the President of the Lakemba RSL Social Club. Tim McCaw has been Secretary for the past 2 years and has also served as the Vice President for 3 years. Some of the other community volunteer work that they both participate in includes liaising with local schools and hosting other events honouring veterans and active services.
“A big congratulations and thank you to Ann and Tim for going above and beyond their duties. We greatly appreciate their contributions to our community and the huge impact that they have on those around them,” said Peter Winchester, Chairman of Canterbury League Club.
