Fee-free room hire for local groups

The Lakemba Club is proud to support our local community by offering free room hire to eligible local groups, hobby groups and largely not-for-profit community clubs.

If your group is looking for a regular space to meet, we welcome your interest in using our Lakemba Meeting Room at no charge.

What’s included:

Tables and chairs – 6 trestle tables and up to 30 chairs

What’s NOT included:

Catering. If you’d like catering, that can be arrange via our Events Department – please contact events@canterbury.com.au

Alternatively, food and beverages can be purchased from the Lakemba Cafe or Lakemba Bistro (during restaurant trading hours)

We are unable to provide hot water urns / tea & coffee-making facilities / microwave

Staffing

HDMI cable to connect laptop to television. If you’d like to use the display television, please bring your own HDMI cables.

Eligible for fee waiver

To qualify for no-fee room hire, your group must:

• Be based in, or provide services predominantly to residents within the Canterbury-Bankstown Local Government Area (LGA)
• Operate largely as a not-for-profit organisation

Examples of eligible groups:

• School P&C associations
• Hobby groups (e.g. car-enthusiast club, knitting club, chess club, book club, model railway club, board game club)
• Study group, language-learning clubs
• Local sports club (e.g. soccer, netball, cricket)
• History society
• Senior Citizens social group; youth group
• Community arts group (e.g. painting, sculpture, crafts)

Not Eligible for fee waiver

• For-profit organisations
• Please note: Corporations or businesses may still hire the meeting room; however, a room hire fee will apply.

How to apply

Please complete the enquiry form below with at least two weeks’ notice.

To confirm your eligibility, you’ll need to provide:

• Details about your group

• A brief description of your group’s purpose

We’ll review this information before confirming your booking.

Room Hire Terms & Conditions:

1. Please note that our club has a Dress Regulations guidelines for members and guests – please read them here
2. No external food or drinks are permitted in the club.
3. Large bags will need to be cloaked at Reception.
4. Please remember to bring your own HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the television.
